The Showrunners Phenomenon

The highly anticipated Showrunners: The Art of Running a TV Show is screening all this week at The Lighthouse cinema, Smithfield.  The film has made a huge impression at international film festivals over the past few months. It most recently got its North American premiere at the Austin Film film last Saturday 25th October. The film will be officially released in the USA this Friday, and will be available to purchase internationally from ITunes.  Showrunners has received write-ups and reviews in The Guardian, The Irish Times and a two page spread in the Irish Independent this week. This independent film funded by Kickstarter and the Irish Film Board as received phenomenal feedback from press and audiences both in Ireland and abroad. We, at Emberlight, were honoured to attend a private screening of the film in the IFI a few weeks ago with friends and family of Des Doyle, the films’ director. While working on the graphic sequences for the film we had naturally seen various cuts of the movie, but to see the whole thing come together on the big screen was a completely different experience. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Des, not just for giving us the opportunity to  work on the film, but for the wonderful experiences along the way. Our trip to NY Comic-Con last year to film the Showrunners panel is an experience we will always remember. We’d also like to thank everyone who helped us out with their expertise and / or with their gracious hospitality especially, Mick Brennan, Julie Ryan, Ryan Patrick McGuffey, John Wallace, and not forgetting Des Doyle.

Showrunners: The Art of Running a TV Show will be showing every day this week in The Lighthouse cinema and has also been extended another week of theatrical release and will be screening at the Cork Film Festival on Thurs., November 9th as well. If you have’t already gone to see it, go check it out, you won’t be disappointed.
