This Virgin TWO ident was one of two animated idents created for the launch of Virgin TWO – the new name for 3e. TV3 became all things Virgin Media on the 30th of August this year. We were delighted to be asked to come up with these station branding sequences for the TV channel.
Our concept for the idents concentrated on how television transports us to another dimension; We are shown worlds that we can escape to. Worlds that entertain us, thrill us and frighten us, where imagination has no boundaries. Virgin TWO is a ‘Window into the Extraordinary’ and this is the basis of our concept.
With each Virgin TWO ident, we wanted to bring this idea to life; To present people with a portal into a world of entertainment. The aim was to demonstrate the contrast, but also draw visual parallels between two environments. On the one hand, we are presented with an everyday environment. This environment that has connotations of the bleak banality of everyday life. On the other hand, we have the juxtaposition; the fantasy. This is the environment that brings us joy, relaxation, eases our stress, lets us switch off. This is the environment contained in the TWO.
For this ident we chose an office as the everyday space. TWO sits, larger than life, inside the office space, bringing life into the clinical environment and transporting jaded minds to another world.
Foliage crosses the threshold between the two worlds, spilling out in to the working habitat.
This new world is so close you can reach out and touch it. It’s right there, just waiting to be accessed anytime, just like the channel.
A bespoke soundscape was created for each individual ident by Giles at Waveform Studios.
