Natwest 6 Nations Promo for TV3

We were delighted to work on this Natwest 6 Nations Promo for TV3 . The highly-anticipated 6 Nations championships starts February 3rd and this year TV3 will be showing all fifteen matches, live and exclusive. The show will be headed up by Joe Molloy with an impressive panel including some legendary names such as Ronan O’Gara, Shane Horgan, Matt Williams, Alan Quinlan and Shane Jennings. These legends are the stars of the promo as they walk the vast halls of the newly refurbished National Gallery of Ireland. The Gallery has been transformed into a showcase for the some of the greatest moments in rugby history and, as the as the VFX vendor for the project, we were tasked with this transformation.

Emberlight had the challenge of replacing some of the finest pieces of art with some of the finest moments in rugby history. We gave each piece of archival footage a painterly treatment. We motion tracked each shot and roto-scoped where necessary.  Compositing the painterly footage was the next step and we made every effort to match light and colour levels of the composite with that of the National Gallery. There were over seventy-three pictures to be composited in this way and over thirty shots to be motion tracked. We then graded the entire piece and handed it back over to the wonderfully hard-working team at TV3. There was a large a team of people behind this production, which was produced and directed by the talented Shane Mulvey of TV3 with Michael Lavelle as DOP. We’d like to thank everyone involved for being so helpful and supportive. Now let’s watch some rugby shall we! It’s going to be an amazing season!
